By families, for families, together across generations. FBN Belgium is the Belgian chapter of FBN International, the world’s leading organization of business families.

Founded in 2005, it is a vibrant community of 113+ business families. This community has over 1200 individual members, including next-generation entrepreneurs. These next-gen leaders are developing their skills and knowledge to take the reins one day.

The Belgian chapter was created to help family businesses grow, succeed, and prosper. Members exchange best practices, share new ideas, and join peer-to-peer learning activities.

The FBN Belgium team worked with leadstreet to set up their HubSpot CRM to enable these activities. The full scope of the project includes:

The challenge

Smoothing over friction points in the process

Events are the lifeblood of FBN Belgium. However, the legacy website and CRM made it difficult for organizers to run these events.

Using WordPress and WordPress plugins created friction. The team found updating the website challenging. Keeping the database current and communicating event information took a lot of work. In short, moving away from the legacy tech stack made building relationships easier. 

The solution

Easier event and exclusive content management 

Networking content and sessions bring family businesses together. Learning sessions help younger people gain business insights and have opportunities to practice. These help them manage the enterprise with confidence and integrity in the future.

FBN Belgium sought advice from leadstreet to assist with the following projects: 

  • CRM Migration

    leadstreet exported all data from WordPress. This includes contact form submissions, login credentials, pages, posts, themes, and plugins. We reorganized and imported the data to different objects on their HubSpot Enterprise portal.

  • Website Migration

    leadstreet custom-migrated blog posts. The team transferred selected content sections. We also resized images with custom code and PocketKnife.

  • Website Design & Development

    FBN Belgium required two websites. The first is a front-facing website. In this website, those interested in joining FBN can learn about the group and reach out to inquire. The second is a private, members-only website with blog posts and information on upcoming events. FBN Belgium family businesses can enter their details. These details can include their history, leaders, and testimonials. The members-only site made it easier to list one's company so that others in the network can find it when needed. This online database is called 'myFBN'. This private website displays company data linked from the HubSpot Company Object. Private website visitors can filter through the listings based on industry and location.

  • HubSpot CRM Implementation

    ‘Is there a way to get a centralized view of event activity?’ This a question posed by the FBN Belgium team. With that, leadstreet went into problem-solving mode. We used a custom event activity object to provide event data like those invited, registered, and attended. leadstreet set up internal reports using the account-based structure. These reports highlight the roles of different people within each FBN member business.

  • Programmatic Automation

    With the custom event object, leadstreet created standard forms and workflow automation. These make managing events and sending reminders easier. We also implemented PocketKnife to calculate contacts' ages based on birthdays. This automation helps FBN Belgium staff send valuable content to each contact.

  • HubSpot Onboarding

    Through a series of sessions, leadstreet guided FBN Belgium on the different tools and custom CRM setups to continue maximizing them.
